Canva is a creative, self-directed site that helps people create visually interesting presentations, posters, documents, and more. Canva has a free to all platform and a pro extension. This extension is also free to educators when you verify your school. It has premade templates as well as access to creations other users have made. You can edit them, use as they appear, or start from scratch. It is easy to look up designs and topics that you are interested in. For a brief introduction to the platform as a whole, please read the following:
Search Canva or use this link: canva
Sign up or login at the top
Press the "Create" button in the top left corner
Scroll through the options on the left for the format you are interested in such as a presentation
I will select the presentations and then it brings me to these two options. Select the "presentation" or "browse templates" depending on if you want to start from scratch or select something that is already set up
If you select "browse templates" you will be taken here where you can search for your idea or scroll through to get inspiration.
If I want a first day of school idea, I will type that in and then browse the options
Once I have found one that I like, I will click on it to get a closer look. Then I will press "customize resource" to edit it to fit my needs. Then it is ready to present with the class!
I use canva for everything in my class. I create decorations, the class job list, student birthdays, and the alphabet on here. I will browse through the presentation templates to use either for a unit or just for a fun activity for the day. I also create a lot of worksheets on here because it is easy to color code, change fonts, and add visuals. Good luck with your creations!
